Message His concept may or may not be right. I'm not going to challenge that part here. Hell, let's even assume that the concept is correct.

He states that 1/3 of the total heat produced by an engine leaves the engine through the exhaust, 1/3 leaves the engine through the cooling system, and 1/3 gets used towards making power, through the crankshaft. He uses a car's 200hp engine as an example.

Since it is broken into thirds, then each third should be equal. We have 1/3 going to cooling (1/3c) 1/3 going to power (1/3p) and 1/3 going to exhaust (1/3x). If we already know that the 1/3p (horsepower) value equals 200, then cooling should also be 200 and exhaust should also be 200. Three equal thirds. Remember, the HP being output is using only 1/3 of the total heat produced by the engine. He erroneously quoted the energy leaving as exhaust being 1/3 of the crank HP produced.
